Gadgets n' Goodies Mod

[Older videos]:

PLEASE NOTE: this mod uses Minecraft Forge to run! If you haven't installed it, please install Minecraft Forge for whichever Minecraft version you are using! (If you don't know how to proceed after that, search for "How to install Forge mods for Minecraft" on YouTube, there are plenty of videos out there on the subject.)

This is my first ever mod, so there are bound to be bugs (but, then again, what computer software doesn't have them?), but in this mod I basically wanted to see what I was capable of with my limited programming skills, and so I didn't want to be stuck to a mod with a specific theme, instead I wanted to do whatever I felt like. This mod comes in English and Swedish, but if you speak another language than those fluently, and you want to help translate the mod to that language, please contact me and I'll be sure to send you everything you need.

 The mod includes:

  • Fireball Dispenser

Basically a rocket launcher that shoots fireballs (the same type as ghasts), using Fire Charges as ammo. The strength of the fireballs can be changed by Shift-Right-clicking, but keep in mind that the Fireball Dispenser looses durability according to the formula (Strength * 3 + 1), so at strength 0 it looses 1 durability per shot, at strength 1 it looses 4 etc. The maximum strength is 3, the minimum is 0, where it causes no block damage but can harm entities.

  •  Musical Instrument

As the crafting recipe would suggest (for crafting recipes, see 'Images'), this is basically a note block on a stick. You can get different notes depending on your rotation on the X-axis (if your head looks up or down), and it can, just like regular note blocks, play in two octaves. The lower you look, the lower the note and vice versa.

  •  Egg Dispenser

This is basically an egg item - you right click and it shoots an egg. The only difference is that this shoots 20 eggs per second rather than 4. That's five times as fast. Also, it makes a funny sound. And you don't need to switch stack every 16th egg. Great.

  •  Block-o-Copter

An item that sends blocks flying up in the air, and can launch entities as well. Right-click on the block or entity you want to see flying and they will be doing exactly that. For obvious reasons, this doesn't work on Bedrock. Also, Obsidian only flies half as high because it's so heavy. Now, don't go thinking you can use this to mine stuff like you mine sand by putting a torch under ('cause yes, it turns blocks into Falling Sand Entities), because these Falling Sand Entities won't drop anything if they break. On a side note, if you use this on TNT's, they will explode in mid air, becoming a pretty little firework show ;)

  •  Grappling Hook

This is exactly what it sounds like (except if you've only heard the term 'hook shot', it's the same thing); you shoot a block, and start flying towards it! No, this isn't like those lame mods where the "grappling hooks" are basically Ender Pearls; this is a real Grappling Hook that obeys the laws of physics and make sure you do too. Also, the Grappling Hook has a 32 block range, but that shouldn't be too big of a problem because gravity doesn't let it go much further anyways.

  •  Jetpack

You heard me, Jetpack. If you don't know what a Jetpack is; it's a backpack with rockets on it, so you can fly. Only this jetpack has a safety protocol. If it detects you are trying to fly and you have nothing to protect your head, the safety protocol will kick in and turn of the Jetpack. So kids, never fly a Jetpack (or ride a bike for that matter) without a helmet. Also, it uses coal as fuel, and consumes a piece once every five seconds of flying. It also looses one durability per second, but that's no problem; it has 549 durability, and so 549 seconds (about 9 minutes) of flight.

  •  Flame Thrower

Once again, here's one that you really should know what it is. It shoots out flames within a short radius from you, and sets all blocks and entities it hits on fire.  It, just like the Jetpack, is powered by coal, and consumes one piece every second. But unlike the Jetpack, it looses one durability every game tick (1/20th of a second), but has, like the Jetpack, 549 durability, which means it has about 27 and a half seconds of continuous firing, and since it's so OP, I think it balances it out nicely. For obvious reasons, this item can't be used in water.

  • Portable TNT Cannon

If you've ever seen a regular redstone TNT cannon, you know how big and bulky they are. Now you are able to craft a portable version! Simply right click it and it will take TNT from your inventory and load up the cannon with it, and right click again to get another TNT and shoot it in the direction you're looking. And if you want to have it in a more traditional fashion (aka on the ground), you can have that too! You just shift-right click on the ground and you have a 1x1x1 block version that can be loaded in the same way as the item in you're inventory. Perfect for decorating pirate ships and defending you're base with!

  • Hang Glider

So, you're falling to your inevitable death on the bottom of a ravine and you're thinking "I'm too young to die!". Luckily, you have a Hang Glider in your inventory. How to use it? Well, hold space to fall slower and glide faster forward, while still taking fall damage. Perfect for getting from one side of the ravine to the other (assuming the side you're on is located higher up than the other side), but not so much if you fall down in one. Now, if you did fall down the ravine and want to not die, hold shift to fall slower and glide slower forward, and you won't take any fall damage.

  • Water Gun

The Water Gun, as the name would suggest, shoots water. The water can put out fire and make crops grow faster (though this function is a bit buggy - I recommend that you don't have your cursor over the crop when watering it). Of course, it doesn't have an endless supply of water. But don't worry, when the water runs out (you can see how much water is left by hovering over the item in your inventory), you can fill it up again by right clicking on water with it (it's like filling up a bucket with water).

  • Mine-o-Saur

The Mine-o-Saur is a robot dinosaur that will help you mine ores. The crafting recipe is a bit expensive and has quite many steps to it, but trust me, it's worth it. You probably want to be with it when it's mining, as it won't pick up the drops for you, and when you're done mining, simply right click it to pick it up. It can also be "repaired" in an anvil with iron (although it needs to be in item form for this), and it's compatible with all enchantments you would have on a pickaxe! Efficiency makes it faster, unbreaking makes it take less damage, fortune and silk touch are pretty self explanatory and mending makes it regain health each time it picks up xp (and since ores drop xp, it should regenerate pretty quickly if it doesn't have the silk touch enchantment).

  • Diving Suit

Includes Diving Helmet, Aqualung, Wetsuit and Flippers. The Diving Helmet makes you see clearer under water (sort of like having respiration or water breathing). The Aqualung doesn't do anything on it's own, but combined with the Diving Helmet it lets you breath under water. The Wetsuit blocks all damage dealt by Guardians. Perfect for exploring that ocean monument. The flippers make you swim faster in water, as well as not fall down by gravity when swimming. To change your Y-value you can swim up by holding space and down by sneaking. The only down side is that it makes you walk slower on land. All in all, this diving suit is perfect for exploring ocean monuments and otherwise just exploring the ocean.

  • Freeze Ray

Okay, strictly speaking it may not be a 'ray', but it's a cool name so I'll stick to it. It's basically a gun whose bullets place a peace of ice wherever they hit. Doesn't sound very exciting, does it? Well, this is special ice; if an entity gets stuck in it, it really does get stuck in it, as in, it can't move. Perfect when that creeper is on its way towards you and needs to be stopped. But don't get too comfortable; the ice does melt meaning you won't be safe forever...

  • Remote Control

"A remote control for what?", I hear you ask. Well, my hypothetical questioner, this is a Remote Control for a lot of stuff really. You can link it to certain objects by shift-right clicking on it. Then you right click without sneaking to activate it. So then what kinds of things can you link it to? Linking it to a Mine-o-Saur will make the Mine-o-Saur drop as an item when remotely "activated" (this was the main reason for the creation of this item). Linking it to a placed Portable TNT Cannon, a Dispenser or a Dropper will make it shoot. Linking it to a Lever or a Button will flick/press said lever or button (remotely!), perfect for wireless redstone! Linking it to TNT or a Creeper will, you guessed it, make it explode.

  •  Spring Boots

These are normal Iron Boots, with a spring attached to each boot! When jumping with the boots on, your first jump will be completely normal, your second jump will be twice as high and your third jump four times as high as a normal jump. It stops there though, so don't expect to be able to jump over a ten story building if you jump for long enough. Still, they're pretty useful if your friend has a four block tall wall surrounding their base or something.

All crafting recipes can be found under 'Images' or 'Screenshots' depending on what site you view this from (curseforge vs curse.com).
