IMPORTANT!
What is the purpose of Distant Horizons?
In essence, Distant Horizons enhances performance and extends the visual range beyond Minecraft's default view distance by introducing simplified terrain. This enables you to fully appreciate the lookout tower you constructed atop a mountain, among other things. The max render distance now is 512 with this mod installed!
** The installation is a bit different on this one, it requires the user to run the jar file similar to an installer just like installing Forge, Fabric, Optifine, Iris etc...**
This original maker of this made is James Seibel, I simply made this compatible for 1.20.1.
Installation instructions below.
Installation (Typical Minecraft Forge Install):
- download latest version of Minecraft Forge from: files.minecraftforge.net/net/minecraftforge/forge/
- run Forge installer with Java SE Binary.
- download Distant Horizons 1.20.1 - Alpha 1.16.11.jar from the top of the page.
- run Distant Horizons 1.20.1 - Alpha 1.16.11.jar, press Yes on the prompt, then press Start Installation.
- Installation is automatic and should be finished in 15 seconds :)
- if you experience any errors let me know by sending me a private message.

FAQ:
Q: Forge or Fabric?
A: Both in the same jar.
Q: Shaders?
A: Currently shaders are not supported, hopefully we can add support in the future.
At best our fake chunks will render incorrectly (very bright or very dark) and at worst they won't render at all. But your millage may vary.
Q: Does this work with player created structures?
A: Yes.
Q: Is there multiplayer support?
A: Yes, and LOD chunks will save between sessions.
However, currently the mod is only client side so you have to explore chunks for Distant Horizons to save them.
