Use hoe on a potato field to get the loot, or you can destroy the potato field block.
Potatoes grow a bit faster than wheat
When potato plant is "dried", it is ready for harvesting.

Recipes are in the slideshow.
The jelly cake gives you 2 hearts each use, and dimly glows at night.
All cooked things and a jelly are edible.

Installation

Download & install ModLoader
Place the potatoes zip into .minecraft/mods
Play.

How to eat food?

You can eat food only if your food bar is not full
To eat food, press and hold right mouse button, until the food is eaten.
