2050 - The Submerged City [For the Skyscraper Project Contest]

The year is 2050. Climate change has ravaged cities all over the globe, with sea levels rising and taking over what used to be land.

In this project, I visualized what humans might have to do to adapt to this situation. I included one main skyscraper, with two side buildings, to reference what would be entire cities, completely submerged.

Inside the main skyscraper, you can find capsule housing- humanity's solution to making the most of the space they have left. As well as this, on one side of the building is a large open space, with what is known as the "indoor city" inside. In this world, it would function as its own entity, with shops and houses, all enclosed in one building.

Next to the skyscraper is an elevated set of train tracks, which has been overgrown, and part of which has fallen into the sea. An unused train remains on the track.

On the rooftops, you can find small, cramped housing. Similar to capsule housing, it accommodates many people in a small area.

Connections have been made between buildings, for people to use as a replacement for walking on the ground.

Finally, I included a highway running into the water. It has been closed down due to the rising sea, and now remains mostly empty, with the occasional tents of the homeless population spread about.

The hardest part about this project was making it seem both futuristic and ruined at the same time. However, I'm happy with the final result. I've included both a world download and a schematic file for the build.
