30-gun Frigate "Glorie"

The "Glorie", for me personally is a giant leap forward in the design of classic early frigates, from the time in which the French experimented with the frigate concept and developed fast, lightly armed but powerful ships. Loosely based on the real-life French 30-gun frigate Renommee (the namesake of one of my first frigates, which I have also posted on PMC), the Glorie is lightly armed with 30 guns of light caliber. However, she's a wicked fast ship- just like the real-life Renommee of 1747, and beautiful as well. Her colorful and ornate stern sticks out, and her hull is sleek and smooth.

Her interior isn't very large, as the hull, despite its long beam is fairly narrow. The orlop, though perhaps cramped contains a lot of room; rooms for workshops (forging/crafting and brewing), good living spaces, more than enough storage room and a notably large powder and armory section. Her hold is very small, but is just large enough to support a large plethora of chests for storage.

The "Glorie" is in "player scale"- a term I've coined to describe the building scale me and my fellow builders use to build our ships, and something that I think the majority of ships in our minecraft communities do not possess. PS ships are designed not only to uphold an aesthetic appeal, but to also to serve a purpose as a vehicle; a home and a piece of property for a player- or perhaps something survival/adventure maps could use. Ships in this scale are designed specifically to meet the needs of players who use them; no large ceilings, no sprawling 1.1 scale ships.

However, it has it's own unique charm to it. The thing that motivates me the most in building these ships is the knowledge that my ships will not just serve as an aesthetic masterpiece- but as a true ship sailing the seas, engaging in the art of naval warfare and exploring new lands in the name of empire. And that is why I build for The New World, and why I hope that player-scale ships become more commonplace in the minecraft community.
