4:1 Scale IJN Ayanami Fubuki Class Destroyer

Ayanami is my first 4:1 Japanese ship and she took me just under 2 weeks to build. I thought Ayanami would be an interesting destroyer to build because of her unique look and her history. The History
Ayanami was one of twenty four Fubuki Class Destroyers and was the first of the Type II versions of the class. Ayanami was launched in October 1929 from the Fujinagata Shipyards, she would be comissioned in April 1930. Ayanami participated in the Second Naval Battle of Guadalcanal in late 1942 where she was part of the Japanese three pronged strategy to attack the American Warships. Later that ay she would be heavily damaged by gunfire from the USS Washington and subsquently sucttled by the IJN Uranami. Ayanami's wreck was located in 1992 in Iron Bottom Sound, the resting place of many warships during the Solomon Islands Campaign in late 1942, Her wreck lays in two peices about 700m in depth.
