Hello! and thank you for viewing my build! read the back story, it might be long but it's quite worth reading! :D
BACK STORY:
crashing through space, not knowing your destination nor fate. you are a courier of the 287th century, delivering what seemed to be a harmless package, which took a wrong turn into the clutches of death. was it destiny that brought you here? or just a failure in your spacecraft. that's for you to decide....

you wake up in a stranger house, lying on a bed all alone. you have a killer head ache that just won't give up
Player: ughhh... where am i?
you get out of bed and look out the window. what you see is the most terrifying sight you will ever see, wasteland islands that have been destroyed. you hear a noise downstairs so you decide to investigate.
Player: He.. Hello?
Cindy: Hello? ah so you finally awoken! took you long enough!
you walk downstairs to see a women and an elderly man sitting down at a table
Player: finally awoken...? How long was i out?
Cindy: at least a week.
Player: a week! but.. my delivery! where is my spaceship?
Cindy: outside totaled, sit down, have a drink!
you look outside to see your spaceship crashed into the side of an island, smoking.
Player: awh crap...is there any way we can repair that?
Cindy: well we would love to... but we have no resources. all items we need are on the main island
Player: that wasteland? what happened to it?
Cindy: oh you know the usual. some alien emperor wants to take over the world bit by bit.
Player: usual? aren't you worrying about the people left on that island?
Cindy: most of them left, but the ones that couldn't make it were killed on sight.
Player: that's... that's horrible. someone has to stop that emeperor!
Cindy: wish someone could. we're to weak to go out there.... hey! maybe you can go!
Player: me?... i'm not sure... it looks pretty dangerous.
Cindy: you had some supplies with you over in that chest near the door
Player: oh hey my package *pulls out diamond*
Cindy: oh my gosh... it's you.
Player: uh.. what?
Cindy: come with me
you head outside with cindy that leads to a hanging bridge over what seems to be a powerful energy ball
Cindy: our kings fore saw a evil coming, that is why we weren't so shocked when they took over our planet
Cindy: but they also fore saw a hero coming that holds the magic gem that can stop them
Cindy: the evil emperor broke the chains of the islands and pushed them off into their doom
Cindy: they have rotted and grew vines on them ever since
Player: how can my diamond stop the emperor?
Cindy: hmm... he sucks the life out of each island with his tentacle tubes... which bring the souls up to a generator in the castle of his... mabye if you some how used the gem to stop the generators from sucking in the souls it will bring back life to our planet!
Player: and how do you expect me to get up there?!
Cindy: there is one long tentacle that leads to the castle, but beware he will not take visitors lightly!
Cindy: but the only question that should be in your head is, are you up to the adventure?
Player:...
Player: i'll do it.
Cindy: you better hurry, the cows have turned into mutant mooshroms that just spread ill
Cindy: if you need some, there is some food in the refrigerator
Cindy: now go! our planet needs a hero!

I built this world in 1.2.5 using world edit, it looks A LOT better if you use the texture pack Isabella which is right here (Texture pack: http://www.minecraftforum.net)
