HMAS Collins SSG-73

Hi all, thanks a lot for checking out this 3:2 scale recreation of HMAS Collins, the first of 6 Collins-class submarines operated by the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).

The 6 Collins-class submarines were built from 1990 to 2003, in the Osborne Naval Shipyard in South Australia. The class is based on the Swedish Västergötland class, although the Collins-class is longer with a larger displacement, along with featuring a vastly different combat suite and set of weapon systems. HMAS Collins and the rest of the class, are conventionally powered, diesel-electric submarines with a 70-day endurance making them highly capable non-nuclear submarines.

All 6 Collins-class boats are expected to be decommissioned throughout the 2030s and replaced by Australian operated Virginia-class submarines and SSN-AUKUS submarines: both of which are nuclear-powered. This will be the first time the RAN has operated nuclear-powered boats.

Enjoy checking out this recreation of HMAS Collins (SSG-73)!
