HMS Fortinatta - A 19th Century Clipper Ship
The HMS Fortinatta -
Built in 1873, this clipper ship was a marvel of the times, displaying cutting edge features all across the board. Its agile, slim hull provides for a faster, smoother trip across the seas. The ship glides across the open waters easily, in its triple masted splendor. The name itself comes from Latin roots meaning 'mighty swimmer'. It flies the red and white flag of Whitesea, the land in which it belongs. Despite being in service for almost 40 years, the HMS Fortinatta still hauls cargo across the world with grace and elegance.
This was a very fun boat to build. My main sources of inspiration were the 'Cutty Sark' and other, similar clipper boats of the time. On the server, it will be moored in the St. Arnold's harbor, hence the sails being tucked away. In the sixth photo, the ship is at a 22-degree angle and it's in-port, and that is the setting that the actual ship will remain. St. Arnold's is my latest project in which I hope to be completed within the month.
The HMS Fortinatta and my soon-to-be town of St. Arnold's are built on the WBCBuilds server.
