Imperial Japanese Battlecruiser - IJN Azuma

The Japanese B65 super battlecruiser/fast battleship design was class of 2 proposed ships that were conceived at the dawn of the second world war. they were 240 meters long at the waterline and displaced 31,400 tonnes. These two ships would have had a speed of 33 knots and a range of 8,000 miles at an 18 knot cruising speed, which is modest compared to other battlecruisers. The Azuma would have had 9 310 millimeter guns in 3 triple turrets, 16 4-inch dual purpose secondary armament in 8 double turrets, 12 1-inch anti-aircraft guns and 4 machine guns. The ship would've had deck armor of 5 inches and a belt of 7.5 inches.

The Azuma and its sister ship were never built, as the navy diverted resources to the construction of the Yamato & Musashi, aircraft carriers and smaller warships.
