resumen de como se creo XD: The Nightmare Before Christmas se originó en un poema escrito por Burton en 1982 mientras trabajaba como animador en Walt Disney Feature Animation. Con el éxito de Vincent en el mismo año, Burton comenzó a considerar el desarrollo de The Nightmare Before Christmas como un cortometraje o un especial de televisión de 30 minutos. Con los años, los pensamientos de Burton volvieron regularmente al proyecto y, en 1990, hizo un acuerdo de desarrollo con Walt Disney Studios. La producción comenzó en julio de 1991 en San Francisco; Disney lanzó la película a través de Touchstone Pictures porque el estudio creía que la película sería demasiado oscura y aterradora para los niños.
