Naboo Star Skiff | Star Wars

The Naboo J-Type Star Skiff was the yacht starship Padmé Amidala used to go to Mustafar to find Anakin (with Obi-Wan stowing aboard...) from "Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith."

A departure from previous Naboo vessels, the Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps began prioritizing function over form. This change in design philosophy is evident in a duller finish, exposed access grills, discolored engines – and most surprisingly – the inclusion of a pair of top-mounted laser cannons. It could even act as a refueling partner for the N-1 starfighter. Constructed during the Clone Wars, the skiff was obviously a product of turbulent times.

Download my fully explorable build, which was constructed in Minecraft version 1.12. A few blocks use the Biomes O' Plenty mod, which will appear blank if not also using.

Theed Engineering Corps is less forthcoming about this vessel than the other Naboo royal starships. It lacks any official cross-section. As a result, this build is based exclusively on Episode III footage and what could be intuited from other Naboo vessels' amenities.
Designing This Build
As a Naboo starship, the Star Skiff is sleek, beautiful, and uses the same design mentality as its predecessors. But it's also not very logical... For instance, how do you get up to the cockpit? For years, I assumed the boarding ramp also acted as stairway.

This is until a Reddit thread had a better idea! They suggested a passageway to the side of the boarding ramp, which I incorporated into the build. This stairway doesn't look as "Nabooian" and aesthetically pleasing, but it worked relatively well. Thank you, Reddit, for the suggestion!

With the least square footage of any Naboo vessel, things were going to be tight. But the challenge was to make it feel "spacious despite its small size." Surprisingly, I achieved this while including a passenger stateroom, droid station, galley, crew lounge, and more. I feel I successfully incorporated the spirit of the interiors of previous Naboo starships.

As with the H-type yacht, I assume Padmé's private chamber also serves as a breakaway escape capsule. This idea isn't expressed in the build, but it's a fun thought. Similar to her Episode II vessels, I assume this starship also makes use of simplified systems, a powerful shield generator, electronic countermeasures, and powerfully fast engines. This would be another vessel ideal for secretive, unsupported excursions.

Seriously, this yacht is fast! Its atmospheric max. speed is 1,050 km/h (652 mph) and it has a 0.5 class hyperdrive (the same class as the Millennium Falcon). So, it's as fast as a starfighter at sublight and matches the fastest ship in the galaxy in hyperspace.

Watch this MetaNerdz Lore video for more details about the Star Skiff's specifics.
