Pac-Man in Minecraft

This is my first time uploading a Minecraft map to PMC.

I've decided to recreate a game that is near and dear to me: Pac-Man. Because of how much it means to me, I wanted to make this map as faithful to the original arcade version as possible.

That said, there are a few things I still need to fix before it can truly be considered arcade-faithful.
  • Tie-breakers in the ghosts' pathfinding. In the original game, the ghosts have a certain order in which they will prefer directions, should two of them be equally close to their target tile. However, Minecraft does not natively have any way to resolve such a tie breaker.
  • Due to the ability to strafe and look around, Pinky and Inky's targeting may be a bit different. This can be avoided by only facing in the direction you are moving, though I intend to fix this in a later update.
  • Collision detection is a bit less accurate, due to the collision function only checking once per tick (20 checks per second) instead of once per frame (60 checks per second). I do intend to fix this, though it may be quite difficult.
  • In the original game, Pac-Man's maximum speed is exactly 75.75757625 pixels per second, or abooout 9 and a half blocks per second. That's more than double the player's default speed in Minecraft. In the interest of making the game NOT completely awkward to control (let's face it, it's awkward enough as is), I have cut the entire game's speed in half to compensate. Ghosts move half as fast, Power Pellets last twice as long, fruits stay on screen twice as long.
  • Ghosts do not use their normal movement to leave the ghost cage, instead teleporting directly out. I intend to fix this in a later update to the map.
  • This one is merely aesthetic, but for god's sake Mojang add some more fruits pls kthx. Just an orange would be nice. Maybe more kinds of berries?
Special thanks to Retro Game Mechanics Explained (watch their video!) and Jamey Pittman, creator of the Pac-Man Dossier (read it here!) for making the game's specifications easily and openly accessible. Without such resources, I don't think I would be able to make this map!
