Pompeii 79 AD - 1:1 Minecraft Recreation Project
Welcome to the Pompeii recreation project!
August 24th, 79 AD, would be a date not soon forgotten. The slumbering volcano, Mt. Vesuvius, would erupt and completely cover the town of Pompeii in central Italy in rock and debris. Pompeii is a unique time capsule and is one of the most important archaeological finds of the Roman world. Follow along as I recreate the city in Minecraft, and uncover how Pompeii might have looked like just hours before it was destroyed and covered for the next 1800 years.
Aim
This project aims to recreate the city of Pompeii as it looked on the morning of August 24th, 79 AD, just hours before the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. The city will be recreated in a 1:1 scale (meaning every block = 1 meter) using detailed archaeological survey maps, Google Maps and Street View as well as take inspiration from various artists, drawings and pictures.
Main objectives will be to recreate the main sites of the city; the forum, the theatre district, temples, arches, amphitheater, walls, bathhouses and prominent houses.
The city will be completed using vanilla textures.

DISCLAIMER: The map WILL NOT be uploaded for download before the whole of Pompeii is finished. It will probably be months if not years - I am recreating everything solo at the moment.
