The SY Princess Marie was laid down in 1905 in Austrlia. She should become the private yacht of the owner of the "Golden Eagle Lines". The ship was launched in early 1908 and then fitted out until 1909. In the same year she was put into service and served many routes until the First World War begun. During the war, the Princess Marie was permanently moored off in St. Petersburg, Russia. But in the early days of the year 1917 the private yacht was stolen from its destination. The people who stole the ship and also the ship itself were never seen again. It's believed that the ship sunk during a atlantic storm with waves of 15 meters. The Princess Marie lies somewhere northern of the Azores in 4,000 m depth. Altough the wreck of the iconic yacht was never discovered, she will always going to be remembered by her former shipping company.
