Description
The Iron Bridge is a cast iron arch bridge in Coalbrook. The iron arches were constructed between 1777 and 1778, and the bridge was assembled in 1779, making it the first cast iron structure to be built. It connects the two sides of River Severn together, creating a new commute path between Coalbrook industries and other parts of Whiteburg. It became a major tourist attraction since its opening, leading to a development of the High Street on the north side, and later Coalbrook Station on the south side.
