The Reichstag 1933 in scale 2:1

History of the building

The building was built according to the design of the Frankfurt architect Paul Wallot in the neo-Renaissance style. The first stone for the foundation of the German parliament building was laid on June 9, 1884 by Kaiser Wilhelm I. Construction lasted ten years and was completed under Kaiser Wilhelm II.
Construction work cost 24 million Reichsmarks from the indemnity imposed on France after the Franco-Prussian War

The building was equipped with the latest technology: its own electric generator, double glazed windows, central heating with temperature sensors, running water, toilets, pneumatic mail, telephones,
electric fans. All this clearly demonstrated the achievements of German engineering and technical thought of those years.
