Story:
Established in 1871, The Ridges Lunatic Asylum once housed over 300 patients deemed to be criminally insane. Located deep in a remote area, few details and facts of the facility were known. Many patients who stayed at The Ridges later vanished, the hospital claims they escaped and perished in the surround forests. In 1897, the hospital ceased its operations abruptly and the remaining patients were transferred out to other metal institutions, the reason was never revealed. It is believed that The Ridges performed numerous human experiments before its sudden end just a few decades after its establishment. Today the structure still stands, lonely and decaying, in the heart of the forest. Few people have since visited the area however of the ones that have, all agree that there is something troubling the site; something troubling the inside of the weather battered walls.
Hi everyone, I decided to take a little break from building modern and inviting buildings and instead try something the exact opposite. This is my own recreation/interpretation of the Athens Lunatic Asylum in Ohio. I wanted to create something sort of old and haunted looking and the theme of an old mental hospital seemed like a good fit. The story above has nothing to do with the actual hospital and is just something I made up to go with the interior/exterior look of the building.
