The Campervan Challenge in Series 15 created some of the most extreme designs ever seen on Top Gear, as the presenters all attempted to create an inexpensive motorhome that was capable of driving on narrow European roads. May’s effort was based on a 1987 Lotus Excel, whilst Hammond created a collapsible cottage on the back of a Land Rover. Jeremy once again went for the most ridiculous option though, as he made a three-story Bauhaus-inspired campervan, complete with a Japanese contemplation area on the middle level. Of course, the height of the car meant it almost toppled over on the motorway and did eventually end up on its side during a stormy night. After it was ‘accidentally’ pushed off a cliff by Hammond and May, the Citroen campervan was destroyed…and the presenters decided that all their cars were rubbish anyway!
