Type 42 Destroyers (Batch 1 Variant) - Armada Argentina (1985) - Crimist
This is my version of the Type 42 class of Destroyers.
ARA Hércules (D-1), commissioned in 1976
ARA Santísima Trinidad (D-2), commissioned in 1981
Build Features:
- Hull Length: 125 blocks long
- Hull Width: 15 blocks wide
- with empty space interior (to allow those who downloaded this build to design their own interior).
Historical Background:
Type 42 Destroyers were a class guided-missile destroyers that served in both the Royal Navy and the Argentine Navy. Ships of this class saw action in the Falklands War (1982) where on the Argentine side, they were the most advanced surface combatants present in the navy's Sea Fleet (Task Force 79). By late 1985, the Argentine ships are backstopped by the four new MEKO 360H2 Destroyers, all serving within the Destroyer Division based in Puerto Belgrano Naval Base.
The ships had a displacement of 4,100 tons, a maximum speed of 28 knots, a complement of 270 men, and a flight deck and hangar that can accommodate atleast one helicopter. The ships have an armament of one 4.5 inch dual purpose gun, a launcher for two Sea Dart Anti Aircraft Missiles, four launchers with Exocet Anti Ship Missiles, two 20mm gun mounts, and two triple 324mm torpedo launchers.
