The Veltins Arena (until 2005 Veltins Arena) in Gelsenkirchen is the stadium of German football Bundesliga team FC Schalke 04 It was completed in August 2001 after almost three years of construction. At football matches at the national level, the arena holds 61,973 spectators for international matches because of the ban Standing 54,442 spectators. The multifunctional stadium is inter alia as a venue for concerts, opera performances and a regularly scheduled biathlon competition.
