Watchtower of Amon Sûl
The Watchtower of Amon Sûl was an important strategic location in the old Kingdom of Arnor. It lay at the borders of Cardolan, Arthedain, and Rhudaur. Amon Sûl was built on the Weathertop, the largest and southernmost of the great Weather Hills of Eriador. All afar could be seen from its summit, and it was used long after the fall of Arnor and Arthedain by Rangers of the North as a vantage point.
It was most likely built at some point in the Second Age, as Elendil stood on the hill waiting patiently for the Elven King Gil-Galad to arrive with forces that they could combine and stand a greater chance in the war against Sauron. After Arnor split, Arthedain came into possession of Amon Sûl and fortified it as it was close to the border with Angmar. It was in these days that the watchtower got further walls and defenses. The tower housed the Amon Sûl Stone, one of the great Palantíri of Arnor. The Witch-King of Angmar coveted the stone, and assailed the Weathertop, tearing down the walls and leaving it in ruin. However, the warriors of Arthedain escaped with the Amon Sûl Stone.
In the late Third Age, it lie as a ruin, sometimes being overrun by orcs, but when it was empty, Rangers used it often as a waystation or a space for temporary encampment.
This build was made for the server Expedition: Arnor, by Firsmarines1/Arcirion.
It was made with, in large part, the Minecraft Lord of the Rings mod.
