Hey 2020, I'm back with this project ! It's been a while since the last real update... But I'm back.
WII Sport Island

A long time ago I get this idea how making the wii sport resort island in Minecraft ! I always wanted to make it like the real game map scale 1:1.
Back in 2012 I tried to recreate it base on some video I took during the flight mini game, I end with a nice result but It was too hard to get the landscape and the right scale…

In 2014, I try to use the dynmap plugin with is map display to make a giant grid and try to guess where the landscape does and then use that as a base line to sculpt the map in world painter. But again it failed because of scale and all that, I was not happy with the result !

In 2019, I find the key of this project ! I find the 3D map from the game. Someone finds a way to extract 3d objects and texture from the game. So now I was able to turn around buildings and landscape and measure everything in the map. But again it was too much pain... I was measuring every building same road but I reached a point where I had to guess, specially for landscape...

And now 2020 ! I was using my 3D software for my work, and I was trying to find a way to use the 3D object... You know what ? I find a really nice way to have a 1:1 scale exactly like in the game ! In my 3D soft name Houdini I convert the 3d object into a height map. And with those images (because yes I cute the map into smaller square images) I was able to use them has a brush usable in world painter !
I end up with this nice result. Now everything are nicely scale at his real place, and we can now sculpt and build in Minecraft !
