ACCESS TO MALTON IS RESTRICTED AS PART OF THE GREATER MALTON EXCLUSION ZONE - LETHAL FORCE WILL BE USED AGAINST TRESPASSERS - (LAST UPDATED: 07/03/05 - MALTON TOURIST BOARD)
---
If you have played the browser based MMORPG "Urban Dead" you will be aware of Malton (and more specifically Dentonside) - Malton is a semi-industrial (descriptions vary however that is what best suits the profile of the buildings within its borders) city which has been placed under quarantine after the "Malton Incident." While opinion varies on if the city is located within the UK or the USA I have decided to orient the map towards "Anglo-American" view as I have had to make some modifications to the map as to allow it to remain functional. Unfortunately due to the scale of the map I have reduced the overall map from a full recreation of Malton to a recreation of the suburb of "Dentonside."
The modifications are fairly simple:
Railway stations have automatically been assumed to be "overhead" e.g. elevated railway due to the vast number of train stations in the city implying that it is an overhead network rather than a more traditional "heavy rail" network.
Roads/Streets/Alleys etc. Have been replaced with additional "car parks" or the new "apartment buildings" - this is simply as to allow me to incorporate the design I have plotted out on the UD map which I will be basing the design of the city on. All other buildings have been retained.
All telephone masts and billboards have be placed to as accurate a degree as possible using the tools available (external maps - the wiki etc.) as I am currently not active within the game. As the map in the game is essentially just a picture most of the buildings will be constructed from my imagination so the results may differ from what you would expect yourself. The layout of the suburbs/city however should be reasonably accurate barring the above.
As there are currently 100 buildings each building will thus represent 1% of completion out of the total of 100%.
---
The project is split into four parts which are outlined below:
PART 1 - Initial Building Stage - 100%
This part concerns the overall construction of all the required infrastructure (e.g. the roads, buildings, etc.)
PART 2 - Furnishing - 100%
This part concerns the overall furnishing of the exterior and interior of buildings.
PART 3 - Completion & Release of "Dentonside 4 Weeks After" - 100%
This part concerns the finishing touches and release of THIS project which shows Dentonside 4 weeks after the quarantine has gone into place.
PART 4 - Completion & Release of "Dentonside 1 Year After"
This part concerns the release of the follow on project which is set a year after the quarantine during the winter of 2006.
---
The project will also be based in vanilla Minecraft so no mods will be required.
Please Note: This map should only be used with Minecraft version 1.10 and above as using lower versions may cause compatibility issues with the building materials.
The recommended resource pack is "Coterie Craft" - this is the resource pack that the screenshots were taken with and the map constructed with hence this pack will provide the best results.
Your Minecraft session may experience latency issues during the day/night/rain/rain-stopping transition due to this map incorporating daylight sensors and making heavy use of them to power external lighting. In the event this is too stressful for your Minecraft session I recommend checking out the alternate version of this map (Dentonside - 1 Year After) which has no outside lighting and thus should resolve this issue.
