Rainbow Fade Outlines
Rainbow Fade Outlines is a simple resource pack for Minecraft 1.18 that makes the block selection rainbow coloured and animated. It fades depending on distance from the player meaning the animation speed will change depending on how you are moving.
Configuration
Hitboxes
The rainbow effect can also be applied to entity hitboxes aswell by going to assets/minecraft/shaders/core/rendertype_lines.vsh in the pack and changing line 29 to be true instead of false:
bool changeHitboxees = true;
It should be near the top of the file.
Animation speed
The animation speed can be changed by editing this line in the file mentioned above
// change animation speed (any number) negative values make the animation go away from the player
int animSpeed = -1500;
Higher numbers make the animation faster and negative values will reverse the animation. 0 will completely stop the animation (unless you are moving around)
Colour Brightness
in the same file as mentioned above you will find this
// colour value in hsl format (0 to 1)
// 1 = pure white
// 0.5 = regular colour
// 0 = pure black
float blockOutlineBrightness = 0.7;
float hitboxBrightness = 0.5;
hitboxBrightness will only work if you enabled the rainbow effect on hitboxes (see above)
