You've seen the my pillow commercials on TV is the official pill of the National Sleep Foundation but as the My Pillow Pillow - Really the best pillow ever and what's this official designation about.

We're going to take a look at that and then be sure to stay to the end of this video we're going to cut the my pillow open and see what's inside all.

Today we're taking a look at the My Pillow Pillow the my pillow pillow is available from my pillow calm for a price of ninety nine dollars and ninety seven cents an expensive pillow that is a two-for-one special though you buy one get one free.

They say it's a special as of right now but really over the last year it's been a special so I expect that we'll just continue on as it is over on amazon com they do sell them singly just one for fifty nine dollars and eighty nine cents and that's the route I took in getting the pillow for this review.

when I ordered it from amazon it came within a few days and well let's dip straight over to the unboxing. Okay we're looking here at the unboxing of the My Pillow Pillow and it comes in this deceptively small box must be bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. Oh and it's even smaller we'll get it out.

Here we go, so this is a queen size pillow that's not much larger at the moment than a roll of paper towels and that funny. Okay carefully cut this open here see if I had instructions on it or anything first here nope just just the my pillow information here.

Unroll it and it feels kind of lumpy just fluffin it up a little bit here no specific instructions or anything or on fluffing it up here interesting enough to say that it is.

I don't know if you can read that label here but it's a shredded polyurethane foam care instructions all right here. That says machine wash warm on cold regular cycle must tumble dry with heat no fabric softener.

So we'll let this come to life a little bit more and fluff up and try sleeping on it for a couple nights and see what we think about this here so I'll be back.

oh I did somehow miss this little bright orange sticker on the end of the package so does say you're supposed to place it in the dryer for 15 minutes before you use it for the first time. I guess that helps finish fluffing this up a bit that feels pretty fluffy. We will definitely do that before we start sleeping on this.

Okay here we are after 15 minutes in the dryer and it's definitely fluffier than it was and it still feels a little lumpy like her squares or something of foam inside but um

Well here we go we're going to try it out for a couple of days and sleep with it and see how it feels so hang on i'll be back

Oh oh you're back okay let's see this was a couple of nights of sleep on the My Pillow Pillow and i have to say that well I was disappointed. I really thought after those great testimonials and the great sales pitch that I would get a better night's sleep but I didn't find that it gave me any more support.

I wasn't any more comfortable. I didn't get a better night's sleep it was pretty much an average night and average pillow experience so that makes me wonder how did it become the official pillow of the National Sleep Foundation.

That sounds like a pretty big endorsement and it's featured prominently in their ads and on the my pillow calm website so i took a look into that and well let me put the pillow away and i'll be right back with that information.

Okay here we are on the myPillow homepage and you'll see the official pillow of the National Sleep Foundation is very prominently put on their webpage. It is a big selling point, now the National Sleep Foundation is a real thing. Here's their web page right here this is at the sleep foundation org and they may do some some real work and some good work.

I don't really know but I found that looking at their their website here it leads to a lot of questions about that credibility. For example the first thing you see here is advertisements things that they're selling and this is a non-profit and is listed as a non-profit but you'll see right here.

It's featuring their store and then you have another ad down here and you have another ad over here so it's very heavily ad centric. Going to their about Us page you'll see here this little video is another advertisement here and then you go on down there's ads on the side then they have their mission in their goal in the list of Board of Directors.

Oh ok not a list of the board of directors so looking at their site it leads to just more questions. However I did contact the National Sleep Foundation and I asked them what factors went into naming the MyPillow the official pillow of the Sleep Foundation? What testing did they do and was there a financial incentive involved with them naming the MyPillow the official pillow? I also asked them if being named the official pillow was an endorsement of the pillow or if they recommended it as a pillow? Their official response where you can read it on my website at news for shoppers calm the link is down below but to summarize it well they just didn't answer the question.

It is interesting to note though that when I first asked these questions the National Sleep Foundation sold my pillow in their online store after I've asked those questions the MyPillow has disappeared.

Not reading into anything into that but it's just there you can search their store now and the MyPillow is no long. They're okay now for the fun part we're going to tear into the my pillow and see what's inside okay so here we have the my pillow and it's not going to be a surprise to you that I don't really mind tearing open a sixty-dollar pillow here because it wasn't my favorite pillow

We're gonna rip right into it here and see that indeed though it felt like squares and to put something against this here so we can see it this is simply shredded foam put it down here so you can see there's lots of little foam pieces.

So this is the shredded foam now I've actually been since I started playing around with the my pillow I started testing out different pillows to see if I could really find a pillow that I liked better than all the others and I actually found one that kind of stood apart from all the rest.
